In conjunction with Savills Australia, Xypher Sport and Leisure and Eventful Answers, Luke Jones Architects have worked to develop a business case for an infrastructure upgrade of the State Equestrian Centre at Brigadoon, in the northern suburbs of Perth. The State Equestrian Centre, established in 1985 as part of the Brigadoon land development, requires significant upgrades to meet current standards, address major maintenance needs, and adapt to environmental changes.
As our contribution to this process, we have engaged in stakeholder consultation of all user groups at the centre and have prepared a staged masterplan for the site. The masterplan identifies three stages of proposed development, which have been costed and incorporated into the business case.
Our work has involved engagement with Moodjar, a consultancy run by Dr Len Collard - a Whadjuk Nyungar Traditional Owner of the Perth Metropolitan area and surrounding lands, rivers, swamps, ocean and its culture. This has resulted in a meaningful inclusion of local cultural context to some of the proposed design solutions.
