APPLEWOOD DISTILLERY

The Applewood Distillery and Unico Zelo Winery at Gumeracha in the Adelaide Hills has been created as an extension to a historic coldstore. The original 1930s coldstore building has a new life producing and selling some of the best that the Adelaide Hills has to offer.

A new production shed for the winery, as well as office and meeting space have been built. The existing coldstore contains the distillery as well as the cellar door. The entry verandah has provided a setting to display some of the vintage machinery and equipment that remained from the building’s previous life.

The industrial aesthetic that was long established at the site has informed the design of the new extension and the feeling in the cellar door space.
